Single Ladies

Reese LOVES the new "Single Ladies (Put a Ring On It)" song by Beyonce. I listen to the top 20 songs on my XM radio (Thanks Honda for still having my car in the shop) and the ONLY song Reese ever dances to in the car is Single Ladies. I mean she goes nuts. As soon as she hears the song she is shaking her head and clapping. I have it on my computer at home and she loves dancing to it at home. If any other song is on, she'll just play and go about her business but as soon as Beyonce's song starts she's on fire. Here's a video montage of her dance moves...and yes she can shake her booty...she's no Beyonce but she's pretty good for a 16 month old.

Insane!

My little sweet baby girl woke up with a dry diaper this a.m. Considering that she tells me every time she uses the bathroom and when I should change her diaper I went ahead and put her on her potty. After a few moments of asking her to go pee she did! Woo Hoo! We'll keep practicing, I know we're no where close to being potty training but surely it's a step in the right direction! Maybe soon I'll leave behind the world of diapers. Keep your fingers crossed.

A Day at the Museum

Yesterday we went to the Children's Museum of Science and History for a friend's birthday party. We made clay fortune cookies and got to play in at the indoor playgroup with all kinds of cool toys. I think we'll have to make a trip or two back because Reese had a lot of fun. Leslie came with us to the party, Ryan has been busy at home painting our bedroom. Pictures to come when it's done.
This was after she woke up this morning.

Busy week again! I threw a baby shower with another lady for our friend Gail. It was my first time throwing a shower and I would say it was a success! Here's a few pics of my friends from Stroller Strides.

I'm in the purple...In the front, in that cute brown dress is Gail...who the shower was for. Let's all say in unison that she barely looks pregnant (and she's due in one month). We all should be so lucky.

Practicing her circus tricks!

Styling in her A&M jacket before Stroller Strides. Thanks for the jacket Valarie

So now that she knows how to use a straw...she'll leave the cup on the ground and bend down to drink out of it.

She's NUTS!
Thanks for the cute dress Erin...too bad my kid chooses to check out the camera case instead of a pose.
Reading with Aunt Leslie..her absolute favorites...reading and Leslie

Better Late than Never!

So I know I've been absent from the blogging world for about a week. I am sorry. Good news...I'm back. We had a busy week last week and a busy start this week. I know I was glued to the TV yesterday to see my nominee getting sworn in as the new El Presidente! Super exciting day! Reese is working on saying "Obama"

We celebrated our anniversary last week by going to the Nueces County Livestock Show...I know LOTS of fun and excitement. Reese got to see ALL the animals, we walked around practicing her animal sounds, and got to watch our friend Chad win his class with his goat. Chad watches Chewie for us when we go out of town. He also raises goats for FFA and it just so happened that when we arrived at the show, he was showing his goat. He won in his weight group and I cheered very loudly for him. Ryan says you don't do that at a County Fair...but I don't care because I was excited for Chad.

Mom and Dad came down for a visit this past weekend. They brought down the potty for Reese and a little table for her to color on. The potty and table were my Dad's and then mine..so she has some third generation things to play and pee on. Pretty cool stuff! They got to enjoy an extra day since it was a three day weekend for all!

Playing with toys!

Last week my car radio was ripped out by Honda...they seem to think the radio is the reason my car is giving me trouble. Turns out it's not the radio...lessons learned: 1. I was right, it's not the radio. & 2. Driving without a radio for a week SUCKS! Now Honda has my car and I am driving around a BRAND NEW CAR (say that with the Rod Roddy from the Price is Right voice). Honda gave me a loaner...just so happens it's a Honda Accord, brand spanking new, with the window sticker still on and everything. It's tempting to get a new car but Reese needs more room in the back and we don't have a car payment. I will drive it around listening to the XM radio until those crackpots can figure out what's wrong with my car.
Reese's vocab is growing a mile a minute. I can't even count the number of words she can say. She's AWESOME at telling us after she's used the restroom and when her diaper needs to be changed. In fact last week she stayed at her friend's house while I went to Honda and Abby's Mom told me how easy Reese will be to potty train because she told Mandi every time she peed as well. Reese is a funny kid.

We've also been taking afternoon rides in her wagon. I walk another 2.5 miles every afternoon and Reese chills in her wagon enjoying the ride. That is our week in a nutshell. This weekend Aunt Leslie comes for a visit, so we're hoping to have LOTS of fun with her.
Ryan accidentally stepped on the dog's paw...she gimped around like this faking injury until he asked her if she wanted a bone...it was a miracle how quickly she healed.

Happy Anniversary to us!

Gotta love this kiddo!

Just a few pictures from the weekend and Monday. Reese learned how to say yellow and purple this week. Can't get green but she can say yellow. Go figure. Her vocabulary is crazy...new words everyday. She tells us when it's time to change her diaper as well.
We had mini meatloaves on Saturday night along with mashed potatoes. Reese chowed some chicken nuggets but was done before we sat down...so she sat on my lap and drew on the table with my mashed potatoes. She watching my carb intake for me and loved every minute of it. I think Reese's true thoughts were a little something like this "Meatloaf, smeatloaf, double-beatloaf. I hate meatloaf!"
I think there are still traces of this masterpiece on my table...I swear she put potatoes in places I didn't think existed
Reese has always liked books. Only recently has she started reading them to herself...and can sit down for a few more pages when I read to her without getting up to run around. As you can see from below, yesterday she was reading quietly in her room. I was vacuuming and when I went in to check on her this is what I found.

She turns the pages and talks to herself while she reads.
I just love that she enjoys books so much...

Time Warner

Many times over I have cursed the stupidity of Time Warner Cable and most of their employees....I think I will continue this process until we have a new provider. My favorite is when I stay home all afternoon for our Internet to be hooked up only to be stood up. The cake topper on that one was them telling me that I wasn't home when they arrived and they left a hang tag on my door letting me know they stopped by. I kindly but firmly told them where to stuff their dog hanger. So in our December bill we had a slip of paper stating that starting in January they will charge .99 cents to get your paper bill in the mail. This charge will be monthly. To avoid this charge simply sign up for e-billing etc. So I sign up...they send me my statement online. Yeah all is right with the world. Yesterday I received my paper bill in the mail.
I called Time Warner to play dumb and ask why I got my bill in the mail when I signed up for e-billing. My question was why the push to go green if they are still going to send me a paper bill. Why did I waste my time signing up, getting me bill e-mailed to me..only to receive it in the mail the next week. She had nothing for me...simple said wait and see what happens next month...so here I sit...waiting to see if Time Warner once again proves it is the stupidest company on the planet.
Ryan's waiting for them to e-mail him back with the answer to his question....why does Time Warner off multiple HD channels in other cities but only offers 6 in Corpus...by the way who the hell wants to watch PBS in HD???

Finally and update!

Well my dear friends, our new camera finally arrived...and it's great. I promise I will take good care of it and buy a real camera case for it. Hopefully we'll have a long life together with many picture taking possibilities.
We had a rather exciting week, I co-taught Stroller Strides again on Wednesday and today (Friday) I was unleashed and taught my first full class. I was super excited to have 14 Mommies show up, great class size, and I was so happy to teach. It was really different being on the other side of things and I really enjoyed it. Hopefully I did a good job, I got a lot of positive feedback from my friends so thank you all for coming and I hope I gave you all a great workout. Who would have thought I would ever be teaching a workout class. Life is full of surprises.
Reese has been busy this week, learning all kinds of new words, annoying the dog, daily wagon rides through the neighborhood and back to GREAT naps. Today is 85 degrees outside...not my kind of January weather but I will admit it's nice. We're getting a cold front tonight, should really be a cool front and tomorrow it will be in the 60's. Here's a few pictures from our day. I hope the Mommies in the pics are ok with having their action shots on the blog.
Reese trying out the "big girl" swing after class. She can say swing too! Thanks Shannon for pushing her.

The rest of the group!
Hope you enjoy the video. Nana, sorry you can't watch them, I will show you them at your house next time I come home. Reese loves to dance when we sing to her. I've been working on Head, Shoulders, Knees and Toes for a while now. She's not excellent by any means but she's working on her moves.
Hope everyone has a good weekend!

Happy New Year!

Happy New Year! I hope everyone celebrated the holiday in style. Us, Ryan was on one couch glued to college football, I on the other watching a movie and shockingly I made it until midnight. We're a barrel of fun over here in Corpus. Maybe we'll end '09 doing something a little more exciting.
Speaking of excitement, I don't know how Ryan can contain himself. He's been in the same spot on the couch for days...college football...how I love it. I think he's been alternating between watching the game and snoring. He's putting his vacation time to good use.
I on the other hand have cleaned the house floor to ceiling, rearranged furniture, taken down all my Christmas decorations and took down the tree. (Ryan did bring it outside). At least one of us is making good use of their time.
Reese has been a wild women the past few days. A TON of energy. She's been cracking me up. We've finally made it back to regular 2 hour or more nap times, after two weeks of very short naps, so I am one happy Mommy. Here are a few pics from the last few days.
Reese ate pears. So she had pear juice ALL over her hands, which she proceeded to run all over her hear. Pear juice has the same effect as hair gel.
Check out that wave!
She REALLY enjoys playing with the dryer. Here she is trying to sit on the edge as if it were a chair.
Playing again

I know, it's after Christmas, but in my defense I was entirely too busy before Xmas to have time for this. I used it as a tool to stay awake until midnight on the 31st.

This picture is only given justice when blown...she had a sticker on her forehead...I thought it was funny.
