April came and is almost gone…

So it’s obvious I haven’t had time to blog. I got all caught up in watching the first 2 seasons of Homeland on Showtime and it just sucked me in and wouldn’t let me go. It sucked Ryan in too. We were captivated. Stayed up WAY later than we normally do and were all consumed by this show. September can’t get here soon enough for us to watch Season 3. My goodness that show is great. So that is pretty much what we did with our kid free time. We put the kids to bed and watched Homeland. We were like crack addicts. Regular TV is a let down now.

Aside from our recent addiction, we played kickball every weekend, played outside a LOT and stayed pretty busy. No kickball pictures, because as I mentioned Ryan and I are the coaches so since we’re both on the field it’s hard to snap pictures when we’re shouting what base to run to, or where the next out is.

We have a great group of girls, some of the younger ones can try your patience, or tell you your hands look old, as I was told today but we have a pretty good team overall. If I was keeping score in my head, during a game where there is no official score kept, I’d let you know we won our game today by 1 run, not that I was counting.

Other than playing kickball, school and spending lots of time playing pretend Reese has been her regular old crazy self.

Brynn has been having verbal diarrhea. In the last two weeks her vocabulary has grown by leaps and bounds. She has pretty much nailed the art of repeating everything you say. She says “Thurmie” which is great, because as stated 100 times before the girl LOVES that dog.  She says more and more words everyday. She also started participating in WAY more songs than she had been and has been spinning around like a dizzy fool. She was spinning the other day just to make herself dizzy. It was hilarious. She said “bye bye” to her pacifier this weekend, so she is working on becoming a BIG girl!

003Brynn LOVES saying “Bye bye” and jumping in her car to head out. This particular day she grabbed the glasses and purse like she was hitting the mall.005

Last weekend it was gorgeous outside. Ryan went to Muster and I stayed home with the girls. We played outside the entire time. Brynn and Reese had a blast blowing bubbles, playing with rolly pollies and chasing the dog around.

008010011One of my many joys, Reese wearing 45 outfits a day, including ones that are from when she was 3 years old that are entirely too short to be worn in public.

We have a VERY busy May, so here’s to hoping I bring my camera with me more places.

Here’s just a few pictures I found on Ryan’s phone from the last month

Easter Fun!

We had a busy week here filled with Easter fun. On Wednesday and Thursday Reese had egg hunts at her schools along with Easter parties at both. A picnic lunch at one and a pizza party at the other. She had a blast at both.

Side note: Brynn had her 18 month check up at the doctor and we were told she’s TALL. As in VERY tall…as in sorry Reese but your little sister is going to be taller than you so you better stop bugging her now because you won’t have a fighting chance much longer.

Saturday, my friend Sarah and I thought it would be fun to attend a Helicopter Egg Drop we heard about that was taking place at Whataburger Field. A local Church put it on and it sounded like something the kids would enjoy. We didn’t fully think it through. We thought it was a good idea and so did everyone else in Corpus Christi that has children. Thank goodness Ryan went with us because if he had not we would have lost a child for sure. The third adult to help with two under 2 and three under 5 was required for sure.  We were stunned at how many people showed up for this event. We then reminded ourselves that we live in Corpus and the event was free. You can do the simple thinking in your own head. Ryan, Sarah and I think that next year they should do the same event and charge a dollar per kid. You’d make money for the Church AND you cut the crowd down by half. The news said there were 6,800 people there.

The helicopter was supposed to drop eggs at 11, and the babies to aged 5 were supposed to begin at 11:20. We were still in line waiting in the mêlée for a LONG time. We finally were allowed on the field around noon, and they blew the whistle at 12:12. At 12:12 and 30 seconds the 15,000 eggs that were on the field were gone. Reese got 1, Brynn and Hank got 0 and Lucy and Lola found 2. Some parents were kind enough to only think of their children, and didn’t follow directions that were stated over the loud speaker that ONLY kids can pick up eggs. Some kids left with grocery bags full of bags. It was chaos. We all had fun, laughed at the craziness and the fabulous Corpus Christi-ites in attendance and swore we would never do it again.

However seeing a helicopter drop massive amounts of eggs down onto the field was pretty cool. The kids LOVED it.

Sunday we had our own egg hunt at home, where thankfully our kids got PLENTY of eggs to go around. 85 eggs total in the yard. Brynn got the hang of hunting in about 45 seconds and then she was off. Once she figured out how to open the eggs it was more of an eating frenzy than anything else.

Reese got a ton, and was thrilled with the hunt. Although I better get her eyes checked, because she’s either going blind or is in la la land because she’d walk right past many eggs and didn’t even notice it. She’s a funny kid that one.

The Easter bunny must have seen how sad their kiddie pool looked last weekend, so he brought the girls a new pool for the back yard. Reese was happy and eventually Brynn will figure out what it is and be happy too.

After hunting eggs we headed inside for my healthy Easter breakfast. Banana Blueberry French Toast. I made the bread last night and then turned the pieces into French toast this morning. It was fantastic, the bread was great. We have managed to hold off on the candy all day. The girls got candy eggs but also a lot of eggs with Goldfish and Honey Nut Cheerios inside as well.
