a LONG update

The first three pictures are from the play date Reese and I hosted at our house for the Stroller Strides group. I guess someone slipped me the date rape drugs when I agreed to host this so soon after we moved in the house. There was a lot of house prep work that had to be done in order to kid proof everything. It did give me an excuse to do some things that needed to be done. The second guest room is now a haven for all things Ryan can't get done because he is so busy with work. All the boxes which he promised me he would unpack three months ago are now in that room and I will have the door shut until further notice. I think in three more months when he hasn't even figured out where I moved those boxes I might just throw it all away. After all one whole box is floppy disk computer games...yes folks I said floppy disks...circa third grade...
Two sprinkler games we have going. The boys seemed to enjoy them. Reese and I played with the ball toy on Friday when we were camping outside. After the play group we found a frog in the house and very mysterious poop in my bedroom/bathroom area. So because the poop was large and I don't do bugs/rodents etc...we left the house that morning and stayed outside until Ryan got home around 8 p.m. It made for a long day but we kept ourselves entertained. Apparently frogs can poop pellets half their body size...or so my husband tells me. I am still not totally convinced that we don't have something else living in our house.

Reese also enjoys the baby pool....
Our good friend Lucy bought Reese this hat. It has cute little shoes to match but Reese won't keep them on long enough for me to take a picture. I can get one shoe on and in the time it takes to get the second on she has taken the first one off.

The first video is of Reese playing in her pack and play last night.
This is from last week. Reese now has a drum that speaks English and Spanish so we're working on the ABCs....

Just a few pics from today

Playing on the bed while I cleaned the house
She was not watching TV, however she LOVES the remote
I keep my jewelry in a real classy place...this pretty bag from Bath and Body Works...Reese found it today. I don't know what she liked more, holding the bag or trying to chew it.

She's in a really good mood this morning!...so Happy!

Reese just wanted everyone to see the super cute shirt that her Aunt Leslie bought her before she was even born. Leslie has great taste.

Uncle Bill

Uncle Bill surprised us yesterday and came for a visit. Reese warmed up to the beard and eventually even played with him. We all had a real good time and we look forward to visiting with him tonight.

She was getting tired at this point but she still loves UB!

Mowing the lawn and other outdoor tasks

This weekend we started our yard preparation for Chat & Play. I am hosting a play group at my house this week, I must have done drugs when I said yes knowing our house was not ready for the one year and older crowd. So we redid the bricks in the backyard and made the patio level again (I sure don't need anyone tripping and getting sued) and then we mowed. I say "we" because I did the back and half the front. Then I was told that I was not doing a good enough job and Ryan took over. For someone who works 'round the clock right now he shouldn't criticize those who are doing him a favor...or they will never do him a favor again. Anyway I need to thank my Dad for never making me mow when I was growing up. It SUCKS. I guess it's not that bad but turning the mower to make straight lines is where I have trouble. We have a mower with "push assist"...I need turn assist.

Reese wore Ryan's new hat this weekend. Monsanto is big on protecting yourself from skin cancer, which Ryan has never been big on. Sidebar story..he used to be in the fields all summer long while he was in school...never wore sunscreen. My sister got him some for his birthday...still unopened. So now that he works for a company who enforces sun protection he can't ignore it. So anyway he has this new hat in which he looks like a bee keeper, minus the net over his face...it's hysterical. So I put Reese in it this morning...totally worth it...she didn't seem to mind. While we worked in the yard she played by herself in the pack and play, spilled half the juice/water she had in her cup and avoided all sun exposure. It was a busy weekend but I think it's coming to an end. Hopefully I at least got some sun while I was mowing...my tan is not near where it should be for living in Corpus.

why Reese can't use her swing anymore...

playing nicely while we worked
yeah she worked hard too. Chewie leads such a rough life. she looks pathetic

Pictures as requested from my Mom

Nothing fun to post, just been hanging out at the house all week. We enjoyed some time outside yesterday and had lots of thunder and lightening last night. Today it's only going to be 79!!! I think we'll spend lots of time outside to celebrate the cooler weather. Here are some pics from the last few days.
Good Morning! She rarely wears dresses but I bought her this one because I thought she could look like a preppy baby

Playing in the morning while I eat breakfast
This face is too cute not to love

I think it's officially summer in Corpus...

It's HOT, that is about all I can say about living in Corpus. Yesterday at Stroller Strides my sunglasses wouldn't stay on my face because there was JUST that much sweat pouring off it. My hair was soaking wet to the point like it looked like I just showered. They tell me it only gets worse. Yeah! I will say the upside of this is I should lose weight by the minute from now on, the downside I'm exhausted and need a nap before Reese takes her after all the hard work. I hope gas doesn't go much higher (haha) or I might have to skip class two days a week to cut costs. Seriously people doesn't the oil industry know how important it is to me not to be the fat daughter in law of the Bading family. Let's face reality and admit I already am, but I am busting some A to make that margin smaller, but unless I stop eating completely I still have class 5 days a week, sometimes 6 if Ryan is busy, which let's face it is ALL the time these days.
We're home alone again this week, will be next week and the week after that. We're headed to Kingwood for a visit the last week in May so I don't have to hang out for that long by my lonesome for too long. I will say the grocery bill is MUCH smaller when I don't have to cook dinner. We headed to Mommy & Me Yoga today, Reese did much better than expected considering she got up at 5 a.m. this morning and hasn't stopped talking since. She played with her toys nicely on the floor and interacted with the other babies, while I got a second work out of the day in. I'm motivated (can you tell?)
Tomorrow Chewie has to go to the vet to get her ear checked, she's got something funky going on because it smells so I guess I will nip that in the bud. She'll hate me more than she already does but somebody has to be the bad guy and since Ryan just makes her crazy when he gets home from work. I guess that means I'm the bad cop of the house.
Reese jumps up and down and waves her arms whenever we call for Chewie to come play. If she sees Chewie out in the back yard she does the same thing. Chewie's not a fan of Reese pulling her hair but she is a very good sport about it. I don't know who wants the ball more Reese or the dog. Sad really. We always thought Chewie would steal baby toys but it's funny how it is totally opposite of that at our house.
Ok, those are all my random thoughts of the day. Hopefully Ryan will come home from Mexico tonight, if they go into that damn cabin again on Lost I'll be too scared to go to bed. Damn Christian Shepard....scares the be-jesus out of you each time he's in the creepy cabin.

Baby feeding lesson of the day:

Reese does not like avocados. I might try them again but it was a pretty ugly face when she got in in her mouth today. Upside, already mashed up avocado makes a nice side to your chips at lunch.

Reese update

We headed off to College Station on Friday night to see some GREAT friends and to participate in the March of Dimes. As always we had fun, shirts were made but in typical College Station weather it was too cold to show them off. Last year it was 100 degrees and I was pregnant (so I felt like it was 150 degrees), this year we made tank tops and it was a breezy 61. We just can't win. Reese and I ventured to Kingwood Saturday afternoon to see the fam, and to pick up the beloved Chewie. She's working her way out of her doggie depression after leaving her friend Kobe. Reese is learning all new kinds of tricks, she can bang two toys together, clap (it takes a while but she's working on it) and as of today can stick her tongue out and make fun sounds with it. Here are a few pics from over the weekend. Reese's new beach dress from her Oma. (she's standing on her own, with a little help from the back of the couch)

Gearing up for the March of Dimes and having fun with friends the night before. Brock was reading Reese his tractor book and making she that she had her pacifier if need be. He's too cute. I left them in the living room together and asked him to watch Reese...his response was "Sure" We like Brock, he's cool.
Reese's first official dip in the pool.
I know, I should have put a top on her but who cares, she was wearing TONS of sunscreen
Reese's AL (Aunt Leslie) is awesome, much like me, which is why we're sisters and why I like her so much. AL bought her a new outfit and made her look like baby Rambo (to go with a nickname we have for Reese)...I think it's too cute. Sean (Leslie's boyfriend) held up fake plants to make it look like Reese was fighting terrorists in the brush. If you look closely you can see the brown eye shadow we put under Reese's eyes for added effect. Yet another reason that I have so much fun hanging out with my family..they just understand me (and are as crazy random funny as I like to think I am)
Again, keep your fingers crossed that the Jedi fighting squirrels are gone soon. Tonight I am pretty sure it was them during the scary part of Lost that made me think someone was trying to come in the front door. I scare easily. Leslie and I can always blame Dad, he let us watch Poltergeist at a very impressionable age. We love you Dad...so what if Leslie has an arsenal of flashlights next to her at night, we're well rounded more entertaining adults for it. :)

Jedi Knights

THEY'RE BAAAACCCCCCK!
In case you haven't been informed...we have a small squirrel issue in our attic right now. Ryan swore to me this weekend while I was out of town that he fixed the problem. (He hasn't) Last week the damn things were so loud up there that when I got out of the shower there was so much noise coming through the baby monitor that I thought we were being robbed (they were playing over Reese's room which is why I heard them through the monitor) I can only figure they are upstairs practicing their jedi fighting skills. I can tell you right now that I am NOT a happy camper about this issue. I did bats in the attic when we lived in Suffern, I have the "Rodent type creature living in my attic" tee-shirt so I don't need another one. Hope Chewie knows that if those rat bastards find their way into the living quarters of my house that she has to hunt and destroy. I hope she can get off the couch in time.
