Country Girls can survive!

Tonight after dinner Reese was a crazy ball of pent up energy. Don't ask me why with the small amount of napping she did today. In any event, I told Ryan to take her outside...he had to water the lawn (not sure why since we have a sprinkler system but I am sure that is beside the point). It's clear to me he allows her to do WHATEVER she wants when outside. Any person of normal intelligence would have stripped her down to a diaper before letting her roll in muddy water...NOT Ryan...it would make too much sense. Since he doesn't fight stains when doing laundry why should he care.

She of course loved every minute

While I worked she did as well. Whenever she would strike the keys she would say "A, B, C, D" followed by "8, 9, 10"
Working hard or hardly working....

a Jr. Candy Sundae from Sonic

A change in a few regular activities this week, we hit story time, play time at the gym and even go to play in the sprinkler water toys (video to come later). We hit the 90's on Friday and I was reminded while running in 90% humidity at 9:30 a.m. why living in Corpus in the summer SUCKS! (It should be noted it's only March) Here's to hoping that running in the heat all summer will shrink me down to a size 4....we all have hopes and dreams. I'll work on the video of water time later on today. For now we're taking advantage of the super great Spring time weather and having a Jr. Candy Sundae from Sonic...they're only a buck!
A funny little side story....if you ask Reese if she wants a Jr. Candy Sundae from Sonic she always answers NO. We know she has no clue what we're asking her but we think it's hilarious that she says NO to ice cream. No matter when or how many times you ask her she says NO.
Who loves the library???? Reese does! At story time

Her first moonwalk...the Baptist Church (close to the park we do Stroller Strides at) has a free gym day on Wednesdays. For a little change of pace we hit the gym with some friends. She got to play on the moonwalk and with all kinds of toys and balls that we don't have at our house. IT was a nice little change.
Loving the new jumpy
Punk, looked so cute with these damn pig-tails but as you can see as soon as they go in, they come right back out. Someone should tell her half the reason I had a little girl was so I could do her hair.
How do I get her to keep these in???

Let's try again!
Hanging out on the couch after her nap
The little clip obviously didn't last long...it never does
Riding her scooter...See Aunt Leslie she still LOVES her scooter!
Rockin' the shoes on the wrong feet
A good look

Water Water Everywhere!

Long story short our yard was dug up today to run new cable line to our house. Ryan needed to water the lawn to make sure the grass they dug up didn't die. He had the sprinkler going and Reese was just stunned since she had never been out there with it running. She was so excited about the water....at first I told her not to go near it, but then figured what the heck you're only a kid once. We let her run wild. It should be noted it was still in the 70's when we let her get wet, and she went in for a bath as soon as she was done. She had a BLAST. I think she would have run in and out of it all night long if we let her. This summer should be LOTS of fun between the fun sprinkler we have at the house and the neighborhood pool.

Note: Chewie HATES getting a bath, and since we moved to warmer climates, she's been getting them outside with the hose. She was very concerned about Reese running in the water. I think all the barking was Chewie trying to warn Reese about water...Chewie figures if getting a bath is her own personal hell, it must be everyone else's as well.

He was tired after the first twenty minutes!

We had a regular week with the temps climbing back up and we enjoyed the wonderful Spring weather. If only it stayed like this, but I know in less than one month it will be brutally hot, humid, and the wind will be GONE. We spent lots of time outdoors this week, playing at the park across the street, walking in the afternoons, and coloring with chalk on the sidewalks in the back yard. Reese soaked in LOTS of rays. In fact she already is starting to get a suntan...no worries I'm starting the sunscreen regime this week.
I figured it was time to move on from taking the same picture of her standing in the office to show everyone her latest outfit. Big shout out to MeMe who sent us Reese's summer wardrobe this week. Thanks for the boat load of clothes. Here are a few for your viewing pleasure.
It's not always easy getting her to stand still for a picture. She's trying really hard in this picture to pick leaves off Ryan's plant. It's only one plant she picks and it drives him crazy that she does it. She must understand my disdain for these plants. He has done numerous things for me to hate them so much....like putting all our personal belongings in the back of the pick up truck on the move to Corpus and putting all his plants inside my car so the wind won't hurt them. HE'S INSANE!

I love the capri pants and she can rock her Crocs with them too!

Reese spent the better portion of 30 minutes putting on my socks and running shoes...she's ready to keep up with me, we just have to work on putting them on the correct feet

It was Family Day 2009 at Stroller Strides on Saturday. Tim, Ryan's best friend, was in town for the weekend, so I forced him to come along for a good workout. Luckily for him one of our Moms was hubby free that day so he got to pair up with her and didn't look so out of place. Tim was a good sport. He didn't mind all the running he did but said when we stopped for strength training that was when he got his booty kicked. Below is a picture of Tim stretching after the workout.

My poor husband....Ryan attended last year's Family Day and did well (he was only working for a month at that point and was still in shape) Since last March he has run a total of 2 times (with me) and walked once. Obviously we could tell because halfway through the workout I'm pretty sure he was sucking wind. I know he didn't want me to notice. As I was stroller free (I figured since I push everyday it was Ryan's turn) I ran to all our stopping points. I happen to be getting good at running so I would look back and pulling up the rear of the line was Ryan....beat red face and panting. Poor guy. I think he sees now how hard I work during the mornings. At the end, Tim and I were waiting for him and noticed once again he was at the end of the line walking...then all of a sudden a little run...we figured it was so he would make us think he was giving it his all. He admitted his defeat to my workout regime...but tried to say he was in the back because he was chatting with the people back there. It might have been the case but Ryan my friend I think your wife has finally taken the lead when it comes to physical fitness. I've been waiting years for this to happen and let me tell you my friends it feels good....very good. (As you can see I'm not competitive at ALL when it comes to whipping my hub's ass)

One very tired and worn out man. I love you Ryan but I know Stroller Strides kicked your ass. :)
Reese playing outside. We colored, rode in the wagon and watched Ryan mow the lawn. If he's outside she HAS to be out there with him. Her Opa made this table for her

Sunday afternoon we ventured to the car wash as my car was filthy. From now on I'll just buy car wash soap and do it myself...since apparently Little Miss was not to happy about how it all went down. Chewie on the other hand was laying down in the truck silently. The first pass of the soap left us in sheer panic mode.

A little more subdued after I tried telling her the car wash was fun

Man I sure hope her hair grows soon because it's getting to that awkward stage where nothing can be done with it. Let's also hope she figures out that clips and ponytail holders are her friends. I cling to the hope that in the summer all the humidity with just make all her hair curly and then it will at least have something going for it.

Counting with Reese

She's got her even numbers down pat. (Grandma...this is a video so hit the triangle on the left bottom corner to see)

Lucky Charms!

NHere's a couple pics to keep you all up to date. Yikes...bed head sucks!
No she's not wearing the "Bump It" (as seen on TV)
My little lucky charm...too bad she's cutting some more teeth (hence hands in the mouth)

Here's a little video (well 3 and a half minutes) of Reese from various times this month. Sorry if you think it's boring. It's an easy way to keep grandparents and the like up to date on her every move. Enjoy!

How much fun are these people?

We had a pretty normal week here in the Bading household. We had a nice visit with Aunt Darlene and Uncle Tom, which was a nice treat in our week. We went from very warm to very cold in the matter of a day and my house has managed to stay clean for 2 whole days. It seems like I have a never ending battle with my kitchen floor. It's a magnet for all things dirty and as soon as I mop it's just dirty again. I think Reese and the dog are my major issues, as she spends much of her time casually throwing food to Chewie during meals. Here's a picture update for everyone from the past week (or so).
I got Reese some hot pink Crocs. She is now truly my mini me. Best part is she knows how to put them on herself. AMEN!
In need of capri pants...take the high waters from the fall and roll them up.

Reese has a thing for good taste. She enjoys taking my Coach purse, throwing it on her shoulder and telling me "bye bye" It's hilarious. She'll just say "Bye" so I tell her "See you later" to which she tells me "See you" then she walks into the other room. I yell for her to call me when she gets back. She'll play alone in the other room for a few minutes and then come storming back in to announce she's home. I don't know why I bother buying toys.
Another newly discovered zone o' fun. Chewie was under there last week...so Reese figured she would try it out. She likes to go under tables to get her business done, if you know what I mean, so this is her current table of choice. She's SUPER quiet when she's under here so yes this week I thought I lost her for a few minutes. She was just sitting under the table with this big smile on her face while I was looking for her. I'm sure she thought it was hilarious

We were in San Antonio this past week tending to some family business. If you didn't know better you'd think this was the Gertz Family mafia meeting. We may not all have the same last name (anymore) but we all have good German Gertz blood in us....Here's my super cool extended family on my Dad's side. Can't wait to see everyone again in April. Hi Pops...thanks for the wave!

Ryan is a man...he can make a bacon weave. He said I needed to take this photo to show off his mad skillz....he's a moron

How cute are these jeans..and shirt...too cute. Although they got rolled into capri pants shortly after leaving the house. Gotta love Corpus HEAT
She looks innocent doesn't she?
Then she tries to grab the camera...
So we go form high 80's at the beginning on the week to 48 today...guess it's a good thing I didn't really put her winter coat away.
Loves that jacket...she takes it off and puts it on all day long
She discovered the joy of grape jelly this week. She opens up the bread and licks the jelly out. Next time I'll just put jelly on the bread and be done with it, then she won't be bothered with wiping the peanut butter on my kitchen table.
Notice the chunks missing on the jelly side
