Savannah, GA

On November 16th we began our trek. I am not sure what I was thinking when I thought that a 10 day road with two kids and a final destination of Savannah, GA was a good idea, but we did it, and survived. I have to say despite four LONG days in the car my kids were really good. Brynn only got mad after she’d been in the car for about 4 hours without a break, but even with a short break both girls got in the car willingly and didn’t complain.

As I said we started the trip on the 16th with a weekend in College Station. It was nice to be back in our old stomping grounds, and show Reese the house she first lived in etc. Reese was all set to attend her first Aggie football game with Ryan and Grampy. About 2 hours before the game she started to feel sick and once she got to the stadium she puked a couple times. Meems was able to swoop in from the tailgate and pick her up from Ryan and then I took her home with me back to the condo. She was only sick for about 24 hours and I was happy she got it out of the way before our longer driving portions of the trip.

We all had a great time in College Station that weekend seeing old friends and we love Meems and Grampy’s new condo.

After College Station we headed to Kingwood for a day and a half to see the Grandma’s do a couple loads of laundry.

Wednesday, we headed off to Mobile, Alabama for our halfway stop between Houston and Savannah. The beauty part was we got to visit with Uncle Bill and Christi and spend Thanksgiving eating some yummy food with our super fun family. We had a blast in Mobile and of course the girls had a great time. Reese got a hold of Christi’s pink flower guitar and preformed ALL day. Brynn LOVED talking to Christi’s dogs through the window and loved petting them even more.

Christi’s boyfriend Charlton has a motorcycle and he took Reese for a ride.

Friday we headed off to Savannah, and after a LONG drive of nothing between Mobile and Savannah we arrived. That night we ate at the Pirate House, a old historic building in Savannah. While we were waiting outside I spotted the bride to be, Beth Schminke standing outside the wedding venue which was steps from the restaurant.

Saturday morning, it was chilly but we headed out to check out the sites of Savannah. We probably walked 6 miles or more all over the city. It was awesome. Every aspect of that city is gorgeous. I took a TON of pictures because it was all so pretty. I was sad we only had a few hours to walk around.

090095098104109We played for a while at this super amazing park that Savannah has. There were amazing squares all over the city, beautiful parks and it was so clean. It was so nice to see everything so well taken care of. Corpus should take notes.

110120At the wedding we were treated to fireworks. The cool part was they were not from the wedding. There was a boat parade that night on the river and the fireworks were from the parade. It was awesome because we got to see them from the wedding. Brynn was in LOVE with them.124Reese loved them too!125She would point to them and when they were done going off she would wave her hands in the air for more.

127128Brynn wasn’t a happy camper at the wedding. When we got home we realized that it was because she was cutting two teeth and two molars. Poor baby!130134Reese was a dancing FOOL all night. It was a great wedding with fabulous food. Between the ceremony and the reception all the guests went on a bus tour of Savannah which was awesome, because we learned all about ALL the places we had walked earlier in the day.

On Sunday we loaded back up and headed to Mobile for the night. Monday we drove back to Kingwood and Tuesday we left for Corpus. I could stand to not see the inside of a car for more than an hour for about 4 months…but alas it’s Christmas and traveling is right around the corner…again!

We had a great time on the trip and it was awesome seeing family and friends. We’ll post with some more pics of our happening soon. Sorry this one took so long.
