We have been busy this month as usual, a trip to Kingwood, we had visitors, went to San Antonio and have been playing outside, most afternoons.
Brynn finally (or I finally) figured out Brynn’s wacky schedule. She is most definitely NOT like her sister in respect to sleeping. I think this was mostly my fault because I woke her up for the first two weeks of her life to eat on schedule (which I did not do with Reese)..ever since then kid hates to sleep. Lesson learned. In the meantime she’s started sleeping through the night (5 months after Reese did) but because she hates napping she goes to sleep super early. Reese used to nap for 3 hours or more every afternoon, but not my sweet Brynn. If we get an hour it’s an amazing day. Most days it’s around 20-40 minutes. So by 6:30 the kid is exhausted. If I don’t get her in bed on time we are faced with this. We’ve since adjusted the entire family schedule around sweet Brynn. Love the kid to death but she’s a terrible sleeper.
Our trip to Kingwood found Reese playing in Nana’s dress from decades ago.Brynn sporting her Crocs
Reese doing a good job at holding Brynn up. She could be tackling Brynn into the carpet and Brynn would think it was the funniest thing. I love watching Brynn laugh at Reese. It happens frequently. My favorite might be when they are in the car and Reese is just being silly and Brynn just laughs. I glance back in the mirror and Brynn’s face is just all smiles having fun with sister!
Reading books while I cooked dinner. Yes laundry is stacked throughout my house. That’s how things work here, be thankful the clothes were clean.
Brynn turned 6 months, time flies when you’re having fun (or not sleeping). To most people (and I have heard it a TON) Brynn is pretty serious. She rarely gives out smiles to anyone in Stroller Strides, again opposite from her sister, but man this kid lights it up at home for Reese and me. She’s a bit more attached to me than Reese was at this age, just ask my in-laws who babysat for us last week and had to listen to screaming until she went to bed. (Sorry about that)…I love this big smile.
If Brynn is on the floor you’ll find Thurman right on top of her. Literally, he would stand on her if I gave him the opportunity. She’s in LOVE with him, she recently figured out how to pull his hair. He gently pulls himself away and then licks her hand continuously to keep her occupied. I hope the saying is true…a dogs mouth is cleaner than a human’s…because he really likes to lick Brynn. On her 6 month birthday she rolled from one side of the room to the other!
Ryan got a HUGE new GPS system for the tractor so he brought home the stuff to charge the battery and Reese enjoyed her time in the box.
We don’t let our kids watch TV as babies. Reese didn’t until she was 18 months so we’re making sure to do the same thing for Brynn. She is obsessed with the TV…and will find anyway to watch it. Ryan had her facing away from it last weekend and she knew it was on behind her. She because she has limber baby bones she bent herself completely backwards to watch it. It was sick how it looked up close.
The first weekend of Spring Break, Ryan’s parents came to Corpus to camp. They watched the girls for us since I had a Stroller Strides function on Saturday night, and Reese went back with them to sleep at their camper. She also spent the day with them at the camper.
Monday my Mom came with Emily and then we all headed to San Antonio for two days of kid fun. My Dad surprised everyone and met us at the zoo on Tuesday morning!
Riding the train with Grampy! We spent the night in SA with my parents and then Dad departed for Baltimore. We stayed and hit up the Children’s Museum and made a quick stop at the Alamo!
Leave it to Reese to find the dress up clothes within minutes of the museum opening.
Captain Reese and Captain Emily
Reese had a blast “booking” airline tickets and running to the control tower to check flights arrival times.
Getting Mimi’s baggage checked.
The Museum has a mock HEB grocery store which was a HUGE hit with Reese. She spent at least an hour in here playing. This was awesome, I even had fun! It’s obvious I missed my calling in high school being a checker at Kroger.
The store had real working scanner and computers so since all of the products in the store were real HEB containers you could scan them all in and then enter your produce and it would give you a total and everything. So neat for the kids. She had a blast. Everyone had to go through and buy groceries and take their turns. She would have played in there all day.

driving the trolley!Bank teller!
After a fun trip to SA, Mimi and Emily came back to Corpus and we took the unofficial Selena tour (I was the tour guide). She was from Corpus, so we saw her house, gravesite, hotel she was murdered (it was an authentic tour), statue, and then capped it off with her museum, where we saw her mother and sister. We’re all about learning with our educational museum trips. In case you didn’t know Reese and I have a small Selena obsession so we were very excited about the tour.Brynn tried out the sippy cup this weekend and did really well. She’s eating food 3 times a day now and LOVES it.
