Seems like I don’t have much time to blog these days, it’s true. The little time I have when Brynn naps is spent doing things at the house like cleaning, paying bills, and all that CFO/CEO stuff I do everyday. I could blog at night but I will be honest, at 8 p.m. bedtime, I just want to sit on the couch and veg. I start my day at 5:10 a.m. so please forgive my evening laziness.
January…
It was cold, it was warm, it was cold again, it was warmer, it was colder. That sums up our winter weather. Freezing at the start of the week, and warm on weekends.
Playing outside in the cold!Wearing Aunt Leslie’s Snow White dress, getting ready for her trip next January to DisneyWorld. Ask her about it, she’s already excited.
The Nueces County Junior Livestock Show was in the middle of January so we hit up the parade on a gorgeous morning in Robstown. We got to see this GIANT HEB grocery cart, the girls loved it. You can’t imagine how much candy the girls got at the parade. Thankfully we sent almost all of it to work with Daddy! Brynn however was hoarding Tootsie Rolls like it was her job.
MLK Day weekend we headed to Austin. I ran the 3M Half Marathon with some friends, and stayed with an old college friend, while Ryan and the girls stayed in Geronimo. They came to watch me in the race (Ryan, Brynn, Reese and Marlu) and cheered me on around mile 12. After the race we met up with Meems and Grampy who were in San Antonio with their friends the Morris’ for the weekend. We ate in Greune and had a nice lunch with them.
Finish line with the Capital in the background.
Grampy came for business and the girls played dress up. It was a sight for sore eyes!
Brynn spent a week wearing Reese’s swimsuits.
Like I said it was cold, so B wanted to sleep in her coat.
Playing dress up in Sister’s room.
February…..
While in Geronimo for the day Ryan felt the need to pull over and chase birds in the field. Very amusing!
This time she wore her swimsuit
Reese at the fro-yo place…a reward for being well behaved.
On the 21st I was able to escape to Kingwood for a weekend alone. I attended Valarie (Herbst) Hajovsky’s baby shower and Ryan stayed home with the girls. On Saturday night Mom, Dad, Leslie and I took a food tour of Chinatown. Leslie knew all the places to go and it was delicious. I took this picture to make Ryan jealous. While Ryan was home with the girls he made them this sandbox.
Sweet sisters! Brynn LOVES her big sissy! She gets so excited when we pick Reese up from school. Reese is such a good sister too, always looking out for Brynn.
March…
She’ll even wear the swimsuit inside out!
Since November I had been pounding the pavement 5 days a week training for my first full marathon. I was doing great until about a month before the race when I developed some issues with my IT band and patella tendon…aka my knee. I could barely bend my knee without pain. After some serious work with a sports chiropractor (and I mean some serious work), some rest (more than I wanted to) and a lot of rock tape, I was able to run the race, but not without A LOT of deliberation about it... We went to Kingwood for the weekend since the race was about 45 min away in The Woodlands. Ryan went over with me before 6 a.m. to watch the start and Mom, Dad and Leslie brought the girls later in the morning. I was super nervous about my knee, especially since I had not done much running for the 2.5 weeks before the race. My pre-injury goal was a 4 hr finish and I finished in 4:26…not to shabby considering I was down for the count prior to the race. I was lucky to have lots of support along the way, and my knee miraculously did not hurt.

my tape also made it easy to spot me coming!

Leslie made this sign for Reese to hold up
Leslie ran with me for about 10 ft.

My big fan club (minus Leslie who took the pictures and Mom and Dad who were there watching). Ryan watched the girls every Saturday morning while I was gone for anywhere between 1 & 3 hours, the girls were always talking about Mommy running, and practicing their running at home. They cheered me on at my 1/2 in Oct, Jan, and then again for the full. They are a great support team! Reese is even signing up for her 1st 5K in April.
Later that day Mom found Grandpa’s finishers medal from when he ran the NYC Marathon in 1983. I was super pumped that Mom found this gem.
